As a lover of BYOB restaurants and pasta-filled menus, I decided to choose E2 in Highland Park for dinner with my best friend. I had heard great things about E2 from I heart PGH who happens to know the chef and has dined there before. When I asked her what to order she said “everything is amazing”—so I had high expectations heading into dinner.
Grubstreet, New York Magazine’s online food site, has an article on the 101 best and craziest new desserts in America. And two local Pittsburgh restaurants made the list! I’ve been to both Spoon and Avenue B and had excellent meals at both. Check out the desserts below.
Bite Bistro is a quaint neighborhood BYOB restaurant located in the heart of Bellevue on Lincoln Avenue. The spot has live music every Friday and a creative and changing menu that will be appealing to both foodies and locals. For example, if you’re going the more traditional route you can get the hot wings with house made hot sauce or try something different and order the pork fat frites. We decided to go all out and order both.
Root 174 is one of the newest and most talked about restaurants in Pittsburgh. It boasts an impressive and creative menu with out-of-the-box dishes and flavor combinations you won’t find at your average restaurant. You know a restaurant is doing something right when every review you read before you go says to order the brussel sprouts. Root 174 is also a BYOB which is a definite plus when you’re trying to save money and are a big fan of $12 bottles of wine.
